Thanks for the insight folks. I did just check DL.com and see that no miles at all have posted yet (+12 hours post flight). If they don't post in a couple days I will email to follow up.

Husband was told that the original flight was going to be delayed 6+ hours, and due to connecting to a small town there weren't easy options to get him to his destination, so the rebook on AA made sense.

We understand the effort it would take to rebook a couple hundred displaced pax, and appreciate how good DL is to him overall.
