A schwab credit card (which has no annual fee, by the way) will always net you $.02 cash per dollar. Period. Every dollar you run through the schwab card nets you double what thank you gives you, and in cold hard cash that has no limitation whatsoever and no potential to be devalued by the credit card issuer.
I think you miss the FACT that some TYP cards earn more than 1pt per spending dollar.

Diamon Preferred earns 5pt per $ on Everyday spending, 1pt per $ on everything else.

Professional earns 3pt on gas, car rental and dining.

Plat Amex earns 5pt on EDS and 3pt on everything else, if you take advantage of the first year fee waived and convert it to no fee card at anniversary.

Not to mention flight pt match, and retention incentives.

While I prefer Schwab Visa, especially for spending aboard, I do not rule out the TYP cards we still have, and distribute our spendings accordingly.
