Hard to argue with Venice.

If you're there long enough, you can always do the daytrip across to Rovinj. Although once in Venice, I'd probably have a hard time removing myself from Venice, even if it's go to see a charming small town heavily influenced by...Venice. (It was part of the Venetian state for a few hundred years...)
