Summerfield Suites White Plains: A nice surprise of a property
I have to admit, I'm not normally a Hyatt kinda guy since I've found the FS properties to be inconsistent, but I hadn't had a Hyatt stay in almost a year and figured I'd better get one in case they killed my points (despite FT advice saying they probably wouldn't). With two infants in tow, we decided to do the Summerfield Suites in White Plains.
Frankly, I prefer this property to many of the full service properties that I've stayed at. True, it's a suburban location where space is cheaper, but everything about the hotel definitely exceeded expectations. The folks at the front desk were cheerful and welcoming and our cribs were waiting for us in the room. The room was well laid-out, with a great kitchen, nice bedroom and new TV's (with six channels of HBO, whoo-hoo!). It was slightly smaller than an Embassy Suites room but definitely looked more modern.
We had just escaped from a Sheraton Suites (which, to be fair, was a much older property), where desk service was harried, our room was across from an elevator (despite the highest tier status in SPG) and there wasn't even a door separating the bedroom from the living room.
Anyway, kudos to what was a really nice property.
