I just registered for Flyer Talk because I saw the post about the Hyatt in Buckhead. I just returned on this past Saturday from a three night stay there with a national teacher's convention and we paid $119.00 a night so the deal originally described is not all that good. While the hotel is near a Marta station, it is a bit of a walk to the station, especially if it is raining or extremely steamy outside. Otherwise, it can be quite a costly taxi fare to downtown Atlanta. When I was there, the hotel provided free bottled water upon arrival because of a boil order in effect. What they did not tell us was that the free water was for the one night only. The next days we were there, the maid who cleaned the room put the water-boil paper notification we had received and left on the desk in the room back on our bed so we assumed it was still not safe to drink the water. As a result, we drank only the two bottles of water the maid left in our rooms daily. No one bothered to tell us when it was safe to drink the water and with the letter left in our room, we thought the problem was on-going. Upon check-out, they tried to bill us each $4.00 for each bottle of water per day. When we protested, they removed the charge but said the letter they gave us on check-in stated the water was free for one day only, which we showed them to the contrary. They also stated that they had charged other guests who had not protested. I should say that the water was not billed as "water" on the invoice but as "Hotel Hospitality Center" which was most misleading. I only asked about it because I had no clue what it stood for when I saw it. The front desk clerks were not very nice about it, either. I am a member of their reward program as well and I think that may have helped get the charge removed, but the clerk left the counter and came back to state that the manager agreed to remove the charges for the water, "even though the letter was quite clear," which we had kept and shown to the contrary. (They do have a complimentary buffet in the morning as well as sushi in the late afternoon on the 24th floor which is completely free and entrance is gained by your room key. It was delicious and no, they never bothered to tell us about it when we checked in to the hotel.) I was not too impressed with this property's staff, but the hotel is beautiful. I would have also appreciated complimentary WIFI in the rooms for the level of property... I mean, you can get that at a Best Western for free for goodness sake!
