Which airline / alliance: Europe - Asia
I've recently taken a new role that will change my travel habits considerably. I will be travelling back-and-forth between Switzerland (flying out of Basel or Zurich) and Asia regularly and wondered which airline / programme is best for my travel patterns. I have been told that, while my company has preferred carriers, there is a certain amount of flexibility about which carrier I choose.
I will be travelling in paid business class, and estimate that I will be doing at least 2 Europe-Asia trips each month. Destinations include almost every country in Asia, so I need an airline with a good Asian route network.
Lie-flat beds (angled beds are okay) are a must, so that rules out a certain number of carriers. Otherwise, I am pretty open-minded about which airline to go with. Obviously, ease of connection is important as well -- I would prefer to avoid nightmare airports!
Current team members tend to travel with LH or BA, although I would have thought that an Asian airline might provide a better in-flight product? I understand LH's programme rewards people who fly paid business class, and I know from experience that BA's programme does as well.
I currently hold a Platinum card with Flying Blue and EXP with American Airlines, although I am not averse to switching programmes if the benefits are better.
Any thoughts?
