Not sure about the extra segment question, but re the seats, for the flights that didn't change, your seats are still there. The reservation needs to be "updated" by a Detla rep. When you figure out what flights you are going to request and call Delta, they will update the reservation by telling you verbally about the new flight info, then you will be able to adjust/verify your seat on delta.com
