Stayed there a couple of months ago. It's a bit tired, and due for a renovation, but the service was excellent.
We were upgraded to a suite and it was absolutely huge. It is a bit of a stroll to 'downtown' though, so if you're looking for something central, I'd stay somewhere else. The free tram is about a 10 minute walk though, and from that you can get close to almost anywhere in the downtown core.
The club room is nice as well, good selection of pastries and fruit for breakfast (didn't go there any other time).</font>
Stayed there last month; agree on all points, including the suite upgrade on a points stay.
Free breakfast in the lounge, and evening drinks had snacks as well (eclectic mix of egg rolls, Indian samosas, cheese and crackers, etc). The lounge staff were fantastic -- very helpful giving us directions, sightseeing suggestions, etc., and their hospitality in the lounge was excellent.
Only real drawback of the hotel is the 10-minute walk to downtown. We walked it several times, and it was no big deal. There's a public tram (streetcar) on the street if you don't want to do the walk. I think it costs $2 AUD.
