Still leaves our fellow FT members to credit their miles to other FFPs which don't hit you with all that much in charges and taxes or what ever you like to call it. But because M&M offers us some advantage other FFPs don't, a certain percentage of us are quite ready to pay 250€ in addition to the miles for a premium class ticket from Germany to the US. If suddenly everybody started crediting their miles to US Airways, United and other *A members I am sure M&M would start rethinking their strategy. Even though LH almost has a monopoly in Germany when it comes to routes, let's not forget they don't really have a monopoly when it comes to FFP, because you can credit LH flights to other FFPs and also redeem miles from other FFPs on LH flights. I am quite aware that bashing LH is easier or more popular and acknowledge that there are many things that LH/M&M can/should be criticized for, but some posters here are painting a picture that seems to be just a bit too black and white.
