Why not put your spending on the Starwood American Express card and transfer the points into US Airways later if you want to? Lower annual fee for that card, a 5000 miles transfer bonus when you move over 20,000 points (so you earn in effect 1.25 miles per dollar instead of 1). And at times US Airways even offers bonuses on these transfers, I just made some transfers myself under a 50% transfer bonus offer.
Why not SPG AMEX? Because many people experienced the inconvenience of merchants not accepting AMEX except VISA or MasterCard. So on average, there may be 15~20% of time when your purchases can't be made with the SPG AMEX and what do you do about those purchases? That's the question.
