Please please keep overselling INTL flights! :)

Just back into Dublin from a quick trip over to the US. Flew DUB-JFK-DUB and got an op-up both directions from L class fares. Fortunately, my travel was flexible and I booked on days where there were virtually no seats avail in Y for assignment (my technique) and lots open in J (20+).

For DUB-JFK, I checked my itinerary before I left for the airport (4 hours before departure), and I had already been moved to J.

For JFK-DUB, I got to the gate and noticed on the GIDS my coach seat was cleared to someone else so I went up and checked and got my new BP for J.

Both flights had quite a few people moved up front and some very surprised and happy faces.

My spend on these flights was about $500 each way. But a funny tid-bit, I had to book the return over the phone with PSS and she said "I have the upgrade (Z) available and you can upgrade for 1 mile" blah blah - the fare difference was about $1,500 so I told her politely I would take my chances with an op-up. Well, that ended up being a smart decision.

Anyone else having good luck this summer w/ op-ups?
