I was always under the impression that you have to "do the job" to sit in the jumpseat. Is this not correct? I remember reading something from one of the UA pilots that they cannot ride a FA jumpseat because they aren't trained as a FA just as a FA cannot ride in the flight-deck jumpseat because they're not trained as pilots. I can't seem to find it now though...
