You should be able to buy at least 10% of the award balance you need for 3-cents a mile. So if you need only 2,000, then it will cost you $60, a lot cheaper than a couple of weekend car rentals to get 500 miles each. Call the Aeroplan centre if you cannot wait for the arrival or your new card so you can receive the 5,000 mile bonus for using the new card. (See Aeroplan guide, April 99 edition, page 22.
