I flew KLM from AMS to BKK last weekend which is a 10+ hr overnight flight. I was relatively fortunate that I had the first row of economy and therefore had plenty of legroom. However, I didn't get the full amount of legroom because I was sharing it with a passenger opposite me who spent the whole flight in the jump seat.
The flight was full (including Biz so no upgrade

) and he had a boarding pass for a seat a few rows behind me. I noticed that seat was occupied by a child who looked like they were travelling with their parent so I understand why they would want to sit together.
I'm not 100% sure but it looked like there was another passenger in the jump seat by the second exit as well - same person was sitting there on the couple of occasions I went past and they clearly weren't queuing for the toilet and didn't look like they were chatting with the people opposite them.
How common is it that an airline would let passengers fly in the jump seat(s)? I've never seen it before though IIRC, I sat in the jump seat for landing on my first unaccompanied flight. (It was 25 or so years ago so my memory is hazy.) I was officially listed as an Unaccompanied Minor but I managed to get on board the plane myself without needing their assistance. When they realised mid-flight that I was there, I think the crew wanted to keep an eye on me when the doors opened to make sure that they were seen to hand me over as a UM at the destination

Of course, they sold it to me as a special treat that I could sit in their seat during landing
Have any FTers flown this far on a jump seat (excluding crew of course!)? How common is it for people to be sitting there for the whole flight?
