The fare basis code was not listed in the fare rules, but NWA have informed me that they show it was "HA00UPRA". I checked the e-ticket and it shows "FA00UPNN" in the fare construction box

However when NWA agents spoke to DL agents on the phone, they recreated this booking and it booked the exact same fare ('A' booking class, same fare, same taxes, same routing - everything) but it showed up as MA00UPRA on their end.

The 'M' would credit at 150%, the H does not - even though the fare is the same. If I would have credited to a SkyMiles number, apparently it would not have been an issue - it is an issue because I credited the flights to NW Worldperks.

This is obviously a complete gong show:
  • Is it an H ticket or an M ticket? The actual fare is the same for either
  • It shows 'Refundable' on Delta.com
  • Fare Basis code is missing from fare rules
  • Booking Class on e-ticket and on delta.com is clearly shown as 'A'
  • Fare rules show 'A' booking class as FIRST CLASS, and NOT discounted coach
  • Last but not least, if I had put a SkyMiles number in, I would have got 150% credit, but not with WorldPerks

Given the above, a supervisor agreed it was pretty poor, and got management authorisation to do a 'one time exception' and change the fare on the NW side from 'H' to 'F' thereby getting the 150%. This was appreciated. ^

I did however get a stiff warning that there would be no exceptions in future and that a 'note' had been put in my account. I responded that in future I would hope that the WorldPerks and SkyMiles programmes are better integrated as it is somewhat anomalous that if you book an F ticket on actual NW operated aircraft but via delta.com, you would get 150% if you credit to SkyMiles, but only 100% if you credit to WorldPerks.

For others going forward - it's buyer beware on DL if crediting to WorldPerks as there seems to be a conflict in what is booking on the DL side and what is actually showing as the fare basis and therefore the credit on the WorldPerks side. If it is an A booking code but actually deemed as an H or Q fare then you will not get the bonus miles and NWA supervisor today went as far as to say it is a coach ticket, not a First ticket, and only a 'free courtesy auto upgrade at time of booking' - this is alarming.
