I found the security efficient and responsive to my questions. I had my ID ready but no one asked, so I was not too bothered. In my mind, you still have to go through security screening, so anyone with potential weapons would (hopefully) be caught.

I got the opposite feel on Qantas domestic. Food on all my flights, including sandwich and chocolate bar on MEL-SYD. Compare that to UA Biz for the same route - drink and pretzels!

SYD-CNS was a full tray meal - curry barramundi + other stuff, ice cream to finish it off. Business on the return route was a bit bigger sized portion of food, nice wine selection.

friendly, youthful staff on the flights who were pretty attentive throughout. In comparison to NA airlines, I was notably impressed!
