You can have wifi with DSL or cable Internet--you just need to have a wireless router. Some of the phone company DSL modems are even combined modems and wireless routers.

I'd suggest you consider VoIP for at least some of your telephone needs. (For example, if your house only has wiring for two lines, you could consider a third "line" via VoIP.)
