This is CX specific - but presumably would apply to all other airlines?

Or is there a way to move to the lower fare (can the travel agent through whom this was done help in this) without cancelling and re-purchasing?

Thanks!
I have a feeling that it is a Ex-USA ticket? correct me if I am wrong.
This is the time of the year, they often cannot sell out all seats then, lower price (lower class?) 2 weeks prior departure date (very much like the old days pricing strategies)

Yes you can call CX, mostly they will sort out your refund and redirect you to their Accounting department in Canada, I waited for 3 months until my refund returned, I even have friend working in the ticket office the track my ticket status, sometime they just want to keep your cash longer.

Do consider the inconvenience you may have during the frustrating change class, wait for the refund. If the cheap cost worth what you do, go for it and book the cheap seat now, seats go quick at cheap price.

just a slide note: My TA said ticket to PVG is going up all sudden because a possible Solar Eclipse going to happen in 2 weeks?
