There is no way that any of UA's 772's end up on the scrap pile. It's too new of an airplane technology-wise, and even though the majority of UA's 777 fleet are the shorter-range A-market models, they will either find a happy home doing high-density and/or high-cargo EU runs or be sold off to airlines looking for something secondhand that fits the mission profile.
