That's the problem. Your drive to do more MR's will be mostly driven by the fact that you are defensively trying to protect benefits that you are used to at your level. It's just sad overall that a Plat is no longer a Plat, but someone who may spend a lot of Amex $$ and then play the EQM promo game right on a few biz trips to Asia.
I can't be the only one who longs for when 75K EQM's were BIS EQM's.

In some sense one can view this as hub-captive discrimination. It appears that this (and the 5K/10K promo) benefits other elites more than hub-captives, so the net effect is really the deflation of hub captives.
