My almost 90 year old grandmother flew biz to TLV during the 3X EQM promo. She had never been elite - in fact, she never had a FF account with DL/NW. After the triple elite miles, she was silver. She just snagged 10K thank you EQMs, thus bumping her up to gold -- after 1 RT. We reside in a non-hub city (WAS).
The elite inflation concerns me, although in her case, she isn't going to be doing much more traveling.
