Hi,
Stay :1 night
Date 5th Dec 2002
Rate $89
On Thursday 5th December (the day of the East Coast Winter Storm) I arrived at the HGI just after 5pm. This hotel recently opened in Sept/Oct.
I was given a King Size room on the 8th floor.
No HHonors Gold benefits were offered.
The room itself is standard HGI with a microwave, fridge coffee makker etc.
The bathroom itself was fine.
I them went down to have a look at the fitness room and pool. The fitnenss room ( both on the 2nd fllor)was small but adequate.
The pool was a major disapointment as it was only 4m by 4m and only 2ft 6 inches deep . ( I have seen bigger spas than that pool). I managed to do a few lengths though.
The room/bathroom was fine although the a/c unit is against the window and the curtains end a few inches above the a/c resulting in a fair amount of natural light coming in in the morning.
The hotel is in a reasonable position being only a couple of blocks from Courthouse Metro ( Orange line)although on the pavements you have to walk up and then along.
The staff did not seem too familar with how the safety deposit boxes worked (took several attempts to open it.)
There was complimentary coffee/tea by the All American Grill which was open for breakfast and dinner ( coffee availablie all day).
I got a late check out on Friday for 2pm with no problems.
The business centre including internet access was free.
Overall for the price paid it was reasonable but with the poor & small pool, the curtain length and the lack of HHonors benefits, I would probably not stay there again.
Regards
TBS
