I have been an American express platinum holder since 1989 and have never missed a payment. The wife has their blue card which had a $27,000 limit although she had never come close to charging that much. A few months ago she got a notice that her limit was reduced to 6,500. She has never been late or missed a payment. Today I got an email that my Platinum card limit was now $16,500. In the past I have owed as much as $44,000 and never have I missed a payment. My Platinum card is paid until March but I will cancel it before then. It is sad because I liked the membership rewards program although I am sure all the yearly fees exceed the free things I have gotten from the program.
