I was a nervous flyer for many years and had this exact discussion on FT years ago. I wound up then going several hundered miles out of my why to avoid them both..

I have since flown both, a few times in storms and they are very safe, but I slightly prefer the CRJ. I couldn't tell you why, it just felt more comfortable.

be advised the on board bag storage is very tiny for both.
