I found one cheaper. On MH, ZRH-SYD return in July/August for CHF 982 plus taxes. The interesting thing is that MH doesn't even fly to ZRH so you'd have to connect via LH to FRA (which is included in the fare). MH also permits you to have a 'free' side trip within Malaysia (both East and West), as well as free stopovers in KUL both ways. From KUL, you have free access with Air Asia with its vast asian network (but at your costs).
But again, like we are all saying - you're leaving it really too late to book something 'cheap'. The cheap fares like this one have very limited availability and once gone, you have to buy the next fare up. Flights are very full as it is.
If you can delay your trip to say September, you will be better off when all travel are off-peak.
