How would you have handled it? Child in 1st kicking seat entire red eye
Hi all,
I'm a new poster but curious as to how you would have handled this situation. I recently flew on a red eye from SAN to IAD and had a small child (I'm going to guess under age 7) sitting behind who kicked my seat the entire time. I have nieces who are 4 and younger and generally don't have an issue with small children. However, the one thing that drives me up a wall is the kicking of a seat - especially on a red eye flight when you've got to sleep to function at work the next day. Prior to the flight taking off, I politely asked the child to stop and briefly mentioned to the father that I had a very important presentation at 8 am and really needed to sleep and anything he could do to stop the kicking would be greatly appreciated. However, about 2.5 hours into the flight I had to ask again as there was just no way the kicking (and the loud talking) was tolerable. I didn't ask a flight attendant - which I know was probably something I should have done. Anything else you would recommend in the future? I seem to have a knack for getting small kids behind me on flights and I've got at least 4 red eye flights upcoming in my future. I'm not the type of person to ever suggest giving a child drugs to sleep (that's the parents' business anyway in my opinion) but uncomfortable situations like this are getting all too common on my flights lately so I'm curious for some alternate issue resolution solutions.
Thanks,
Kesbeck
