I think those who misbehave as non-revs are the very small percentage, something much less than 1% of the total. Those who misbehave should have their travel benefits eliminated for a period of time as punishment. I would propose 1 year suspension for the first offense, 5 year suspension for the second and life time if they are stupid enough to have a third offense. But that's just my opinion.

That aside, I think there is a complete misunderstanding of the effect of non-revs in the system. NRSA's will NEVER bump a paying passenger (whatever the form of payment). This is where it gets twisted, some people think that if it were not for the non-rev that they would have gotten something more than they were entitled to, or were willing to pay for. But they wouldn't, not if the rules were followed.

Giving out illegal double upgrades is a bad business decision, as it trains the frequent traveler to purchase fewer F tickets to begin with, and this leads to LESS revenue. Not a smart idea.

For the NRPS non-rev it is a bit different, but mainly in perception. All companies have a certain amount of business travel and they "pay" for those employees to travel. IBM does it, Ford does it, Apple does it, so does UA, AA, DL, SW, and all the other airlines. They just "pay" themselves.

The cost of NRPS flyers is like the cost of fuel, food and crew. The cost is there, and is offset by the revenue paid by the flying public. I think FA's and Pilots should be PROHIBITED from flying in uniform, in my opinion it only adds to the perception problem. Same thing with CREW tags.
