My Outlook phone book comes over from Palm Pilot days and is in the thousands. I have a number of multiple contacts for the same person where contact "a" for "John Do" may have his e-mail and office phone, whereas contact "b" might have their mailing address and some other information, and contact "c" would be fore "John X. Doe" and could have something else. I'd love a contact that helped automate the merging process. Any recommendations?
I had to do something similar and couldn't find anything that does that automatically but I did find a way of doing something similar to your wishes although it isn't in anyway automatic.
If you can export the contacts from the palm as a CSV file and can load that into Excel or Access or the Open Office equivalents then this idea works. You just need to have everything loaded and sorted by surname then first name, it is then a very tedious process of looking through the data and moving the various bits of text into one Do/Doe entry. Then when you are done delete the now empty entries and repeat before importing the contacts into Outlook from that CSV file.
If there is something that automatically does this I'd love to know of it.
