I think I will avoid booking North America rewards with my AP miles, and focus on spending them in Asia.
My son recently booked a flight to Europe and back.Rather than fly AC metal outbound from YYZ,he booked on *A via UA to ORD and then MUC rather than on non-stop AC flight.Saved him hundreds of $'s,added 1 segment.
A sticky thread on how to use *A and avoid all the AE charges might sound prudent.@:-)
