Well this came as quite a surprise to me.

4 night upcoming stay in New York, 100's of hotel options available. After much deliberation, I in the end opted to book a stay at the Waldorf Towers. Needless to say, I was a bit taken aback when the reservation confirmation came through with the following text included:

Please note: This hotel does not participate in the Hilton HHonors program, therefore HHonors points will not be awarded for this stay.

Well, thank you very much for that, Diarmuid Dwyer. Of course, this was mentioned nowhere on any of the multiple reservation pages, or in the terms and conditions prior to the booking. Also, nowhere on the Hilton or Waldorf websites does it mention this.

As far as I'm concerned I've just been stung out of at least 40,000 HHonors points, which if you were to purchase them would cost $400. What pisses me off the most is that I had several other options available (Hilton family or otherwise) that I would have chosen instead if I had known this prior to booking.

I've not seen this mentioned anywhere else in this forum, and a search (FT & Google site:flyertalk) didn't throw up anything.

All thoughts welcome...
