1. The hotel isn't among the "nicer" ones in Europe. It has a very distinct 70s feel to it. It's not bad, but it's nothing to write home about :-)
I used to live in the area, so I think that I was less enthused about the locale than most!

2. Nitelife. To be honest, the area around the Eiffel Tower is dead.The nitelife, depending on your tastes, is mostly around Bastille or in the north of town. There is an RER (regional train) and a metro station within 5 minutes of the hotel.
