When I was in Germany last March I had to extend my stay thus I needed to cancel a 1 night stay at the LHR Hilton. Of course this was all last minute and I was beyond the cancel by time. I just called the LHR Hilton direct and explained my situation and they cancelled my reservation with no penalty or charge for doing it after the required time. Definitely call the hotel direct.
