If you have never flown CO internationally then when you do the OLCI you will receive a "this is not a boarding pass" page. This is because you have not scanned your passport in to their system and verified the data with an agent. I think that seat assignments made during the process will stick even then but I'm not positive as I haven't dealt with that in a long time.

The other thing to consider is that while 8DEF are nice they don't have a cutout for your feet to stretch far forward. If you like to straighten your legs under the seat in front of you those seats will not be very good for you. I fing that more importand eastbound than westbound personally.
