On most routes ex-ORD AA cancels flights fare less often than UA - even on routes where its AE vs. UA mainline. Generally, UA is a disaster. I wouldn't disagree that there aren't exceptions but generally AA is far more reliable and also better to deal with when a flight does cancel.
