Why does AA cxl flights between LGA-ORD with greater frequency than UA.

[Rant=on]

OK, I normally like AA. They treat me quite well as an EXP. However one of the maddening things AA does is cancel flights if a cloud appears in the sky.

I fly ORD-LGA with some frequency (about 40-50 times a year). AA is trigger happy on cancelling flight at any possibility of bad weather. Since UA flies the same route, I checked on flightstats.com to see how UA and AA fared today between LGA and ORD.

AA 17 flights between LGA and ORD today, 5 cancelled.
UA 16 flights between LGA and ORD today, 1 cancelled.

I'm stuck connecting through CMH tomorrow on AE just to get home because my flight was cancelled tonight. UA got its planes to from LGA to ORD tonight, while AA cancelled all of their evening flights.

As I mentioned, I am generally happy as an EXP with AA, but if they can't reliably transport me where I am going and their competitors can, I have to take a serious look at their competitors.
