I don't understand why people keep saying OP should choose UA over SQ. Granted that E+ is nice, but this is 744 E+ we are talking here. E+ on 744 is not much different than E-. In addition, SQ has AVOD, which makes a huge different. Furthermore, SQ has much better food than UA. There is a reason why there are only two or three airlines that received 5 stars rating in the world, and SQ is one of them.

Take a look at the achievement of SQ below. UA would die for such achievement.

Speaking of food, has anyone noticed how terrible in-flight food (in Y) on UA has been recently? You get a bowl of lettuce (just lettuce, nothing else), main meal, nasty dessert, that's it. On better airlines such as NH and SQ, in addition to a better main course, you get better appetizers such as smoked salmon and Japanese soba as well as better dessert like Haagen-Dazs ice cream.

As mentioned by someone else above, SQ is so much better than UA once you take E+ out of the picture. UA loyalists need to try flying other airlines to know what they are missing.

Now, whether you can score an award seat or not on SQ is a whole different matter.
