Having travelled PE with Virgin, BA & BMI long haul there is a vast difference in standards & seat widths.
On an average family holiday i can't afford the luxury of 1st or business class & PE offers an affordable alternativve to the cramped cattle class conditions that is offered by some airlines, especially on a long haul flight when you are trying to sleep.
I agree with the OP and wish that more airlines offered this service.
