At what point do BA have to honour a booking ?

Hi all

Just like to pick some brains if possible.

If a booking (or a change in a booking) is made online with BA.com at what point in the booking process do BA have to honour that booking.

Scenario is.... a change in a booking is made to a flight via BA.com (within my BAEC profile) which results in the issue of a new booking confirmation and new itinerary by email.

3 days later BA cancel the change/new booking saying that the change wasnt allowed and that a 'glitch' in the online system had allowed it to be changed. The change was a zero cost change of date/time but BA say the fare class should not have been made available on that particular flight as zero cost. They have reverted the booking to its original state.

Can anyone share thoughts about at what point BA have to honour that booking/change ? Is the issue of an eticket confirmation/itinerary some kind of contract ?

Many thanks

MS
