Agreed, LV Hilton is not a dump whatsoever. It's not a hip hotel but the rooms are clean and if they upgrade you, the rooms are actually quite big. The complimentary access to spa and gym for HH elites is also very good. I would rate LV Hilton as above average among U.S. Hilton and feel that OP's experience is most likely an exception rather than the norm and also greatly exaggerated.
