Any of the recommended hotels (see Sticky at top of forum) in Shinjuku will be fine. I assume you are going to or near Schlumberger's offices and if so the transfer from the Odakyu line (31m from Shinjuku to Machida) to the Yokohama line at Machida to Fuchinobe (7m on the Yokohama line) is painless and the journey is short. In fact I always found the walk from Yabe station One past Fuchinobe) faster than the one from Fuchinobe.
Shinjuku should be Tokyo enough, and you can avoid the desolation that is Yokohama.

I have a meeting in the Fuchinobe area. See

The last time we did this we stayed in Yokohama and took the 1-hour each-way train ride down to Fuchinobe. Then someone mentioned what I had always thought by looking at the map. It is possible to stay in Tokyo, get in some night-life or taste of life in Japan and still make it in the same 1-hour time frame to Fuchinobe.
Does anyone have such a hotel or location in mind? They recommended Machida, but that is not Tokyo enough for me, who has spent 0 days in Tokyo so far. Any good hotel recommendation would be appreciated. Can be either a Japanese or a western hotel.
Thanks.
