This is an issue with Korean names. Take 김정일 (Kim Jong Il). "Jong Il" is the first name, but machine readable passports would make "Il" the middle name. I guess this is why many Koreans use hyphenated first names.
Our son has an English first name, a two-syllable Korean middle name, English surname. To avoid the confusion about having "two middle names" we hyphenated his middle name. Worked fine on his passport, SSN card, etc. With the whole ID must match thing, we went to update his KE FF account (which had a space, not a hyphen) and discovered that their system would do hyphens in first names and last names, but not middle names for some reason.

So, yeah, we're waiting for the whole mess to get sorted out and hoping in the meantime that TSA doesn't consider a 3 year old to be suspicious.
