I just returned from Achorage last week, same thing (was 2 stays short of Diamond). They did give Cont. B'fast certificates, with an upgrade to full buffet for $5.

I think if they opened the lounge up to Golds, with all the cruise business they do, the lounge would have to be the size of a small gym. They have a lot of "cruisers" that stay there. Non-the less, it was a dissappointment that it was not offered. I was however upgraded to a HH floor and given free high speed net access. All in all was not a bad experience.
