I have stayed in many Hiltons before, but always the full service Hilton Hotels (which is pretty much all we get outside the US).

A colleague and I have a longish (for us!) trip to the US coming up, and I'm looking for the most cost effective Hilton accommodation for 2 people who get on well but don't want to share the same room...

From researching the website, it appears that Embassy Suites are going to be the best. It seems that in all Embassy Suites you get the following:

A bedroom with a bed AND a living room with a sofa bed
Cooked breakfast
Free LAN connection (important for regular email contact with UK office)

I'd be grateful if people could confirm that the above plan is not in some way fatally flawed, and provide any comments on Embassy suites in general for someone who's not stayed in one before as well as specifics on the following itinerary and rates:

NYC: 16-18 Oct
Embassy Suites North End Avenue $189
I'd love to know the difference between "King Basic" and "One Full Bed" (identical rates)

LAX North 18-19 Oct
Embassy Suites Airport Boulevard $99
Comments on location and public transport particularly appreciated

SFO 19-21 Oct
Embassy Suites Gateway Boulevard $109
Again, comments on location and public transport to downtown particularly appreciated.
