The ferry is nice, but going to Helsinki and back would eat up two days of your limited time, and there's not much to do in the evenings unless you have company or plan to get plastered with the intention of finding some.

You might want to consider Turku instead: it's closer (can be reached on a day cruise), more historical and more compact than Helsinki, and it's basically archipelago all the way across the Baltic.
