This is a timely thread for me too.

I have requested that Amex upgrade my blue card to the premium one yesterday.
I was hoping to bag the 6,000 bonus too but looks like I will not be eligible.

Does anyone know if I close the blue account, wait a week or two and then re-apply for the Premium Card if the 6,000 miles will then be due to me?

On another related note, I am going to see if AMEX will reduce or even waiver the annual charge, the rep on the phone suggested it was unlikely, but I will give it a go. I've a faint memory of this being dicussed here before but, could'nt find the relevant posts.

Has anyone had any luck with such a request?
