I saw this article yesterday. The biggest problem is that it totally fails to discriminate between the dynamics of each scheme. For example, whatever value he places on a BA Mile is only achievable on a long-haul premium redemption. This means, for most places, 100,000 BA Miles - so £66,667 of Amex spend! If you have no other source of BA Miles and are only a modest spender, the BA Amex is useless - yet Martin is implying it offers great value. Work out how little you get for a BA Miles if you use them for a Y ticket to Barcelona ....
(If you read Lewis's blog, you'll see that he recently used his BA Amex '2 4 1' for long-haul J so he is biased!)
Miles and points reward cards should only be used by people like us who are fully aware of what they are doing! Mr Average should stick with a standard cashback card (the 1% in Argos vouchers one seemed OK) and stick with using EasyJet or BA Y cash tickets.
