IF you fly within Asia, then Asiana or ANA may be better programs since you will earn upgrades and similar useful benefits to use when you fly them. As for Europe, it seems LH owns just about all the STAR partners so M+M may be the way to go, and if you buy full fare C or F, then miles add up very quickly (200% for C, 300% for F IIRC).
LH seems to work well if Europe is your primary focus. Also, with a little bit of extra effort, flying to some Asian destinations on LH starting in LHR can be cost effective, if you are buying Z discounted business fares.

As I understand M&M, should make SEN fairly quickly.
