more about back-to-back ticketing,, I withdraw this claim. It is clearly not a good idea to use your AA frequent flyer number if using AA coupons out of sequence!
Do AA go to the trouble of identifying use of coupons out of sequence when there is no common frequent flyer number? We don't know. Would AA detect a nested flight with the same frequent flyer number on a different airline? While technically possible, it is then not AA's coupons that are being used out of sequence, so I am not even sure this is a breach of the rules.
