Here's my take on the situation
If I make a reservation and don't show up and don't call to cancel my CC is going to be charged for 1 nights stay. That is the Marriott policy and I've had this happen to me before I called the hotel and asked if there was anything they could do about it and they said no that it was their policy......
So if I don't get offered my PAG I want them to stand behind their policy. Just today I had this happen to me. The Lady at the front desk wasn't the nicest in the world (not the worst either but not good at all) but after I told her I had a reservation and gave her my name and the whole hoopla the first thing she said to me was "I need a CC" I already had the card on the counter and when she looked up and saw it she just said...."oh" and as a little helpful reminder I said to her "I know the drill I stay at marriott over 100 nights a year" to which she gave back a fake sounding laugh.
So I feel like I did my part to send a little reminder and on top of that I'm here for 4 nights (right around $500) so they are surely not loosing money. I know they will try and offer me points so my response will be "a $50 gift card is about 40,000 points so if you want to give me the points that what I'll take."
