If you're just one person, the shuttle isn't a bad deal. It's $20 roundtrip from Union Station or the Old Post Office (near Metro Center). From Reagan, the Shuttle is $32 RT.

But if you're really not in a rush, you can take a water taxi from Georgetown (transferring in Alexandria, I believe). $26-$32 per person roundtrip. This is the easiest and nicest way to get there.
